I have also had several problems with WordPerfect 8X and Windows 10 (all ruthlessly kept up-to-date) on my desktop.įor example, whenever I hit Enter at the beginning of a line or to insert a hard return, I got “.”. Windows 10 & WordPerfect 8X's new and improved anomalies. And, Word Perfect is actually usable now, instead of locking up.

It even got rid of the nagging registry message that popped up with the old install on Photo House.

So, something about doing the clean install in Windows 10 and using the compatibility troubleshooter worked a hell of a lot better than similar processes in Windows 7, or running the previously installed software after the upgrade to Windows 10. Among other things, it sets the compatibility to XP SP3, but I'm pretty sure more was done behind the scenes, as the programs are running perfectly (in at least the tests I have done tonight), when they did not do so when installed in Windows 7, and set to XPSP3 compatibility, originally. For Wordperfect 8, Quattro 8 and Corel Photo House (at least - those are the three programs I use on the machine), I right-clicked on the links for them in the Corel directory, chose "Troubleshoot Compatibility", and ran the troubleshooter.ĥ. Applied Service Pack 5 (didn't know if the CD was SP1 or not, so played it safe)Ĥ.
Note that I chose custom install and told it specifically to not install the DAD.Ģ. reinstalled from CD, running the install as Administrator, and then setting the program itself to run as Administrator. However, I found that, while the original WP8 had ran really poorly under Win7 and was almost unusable in Win10, I was able to reinstall it and it is working perfectly fine now.ġ. I recently had to reset my 32-bit Windows 10 machine due to some malicious adware, and lost a lot of my program installs.
